As in all Episcopal churches, the Vestry is one of the most important volunteer organizations because it is the Vestry's responsibility to oversee all the temporal and business matters of the parish. Vestrymen and women are elected for three-year terms; at each year's annual meeting we elect 1/3 of the nine vestry people, resulting in three new and six continuing members every year. In addition to the elected vestry people, the two wardens and the rector are voting members.
The duties of Vestry are outlined in our by-laws, and they can only be modified by change of those by-laws. The duties include annual budget approval, management of the church building and environs, the payment of all properly authorized parish obligations and dues, the setting of goals and rarely, the calling of a new rector.
Vestry meets monthly, and its minutes are available in the church office, as well as on our website. Vestry meeting are open to any member of the parish who wishes to attend.
