Children’s Chapel
Every month or so children of all ages gather in our small chapel downstairs to pray and sing and encounter a Gospel story. Normally this takes the place of Sunday School that day, though sometimes the kids return to their rooms for an art activity after the story. A few adults are needed to assist the chapel leader.
Rev. Michael is a former preschool teacher who has been a storyteller for over thirty years, and other adults are being trained to tell Godly Play stories. We are deeply concerned that today’s children lack a basic familiarity with the Bible and do our best to introduce them to Jesus and his friends. We always engage the kids in presenting the stories, so they’ll feel a sense of personal connection.
In addition, Children’s Chapel features three wonderful music leaders. Margaret Utter and Lindsay Igoe are experienced music teachers, and Rev. Michael also enjoys leading songs. Several times a year the kids rehearse in Sunday School and then sing for the congregation.
