Drennen O’Melia Youth Center
Ever since we moved to our current location on Dry Creek Road, we’ve had the desire to serve the Arapahoe High School community by providing students with a place to hang out after school. AHS has recently been hit by a series of suicides and attempts, making it even more clear that our local teens need a place of safety and support.
Seeing an opportunity within our own building, the Youth Group moved out of their room and built a beautiful Nursery in that space just inside the lower entry. Since then we’ve been working on a design and obtaining permits to transform the large north wing of our downstairs into a Youth Center. Once we’re ready, donations and volunteers will be needed to make this dream a reality.
The tragic death last summer of Drennen O’Melia, one of our liveliest and most popular youth, gave special impetus to this project. Drennen was always the first to volunteer for ministry and brought many friends to youth group. We look forward to dedicating this center in his memory and reaching out to the young people around us.
