Retreats
Our Youth Group has a wide variety of activities, ranging from purely fun times to serious discussions to serving those in need. All of this helps to build a community of spiritual seekers, which finds its deepest expression on our retreats.
For more than a decade the youth and their adult leaders have gone on retreat over a weekend in February, and they also participate in statewide events once or twice a year. Along with icebreakers and games these retreats feature a series of spiritual talks, and the small-group responses often reach a deep level of sharing. On Saturday night the young people have a chance to engage in prayer with the adult leaders, either personally or with their friends. Sunday worship is a time of celebration, when the themes of the weekend are reviewed before returning home.
It is interesting to observe that every year a number of young people who are not members of the church attend retreat, testifying to the spiritual hunger among our youth and their willingness to invite their friends. Another sign of the depth of this experience is the large team of adult and young adult leaders who keep returning year after year.
