BOOK STUDY: TOPICS IN CHRISTIAN MYSTICISM
FACILITATORS: GWEN THORNTON & ALLISON HOWARD
Details: Meets bi-weekly (every other week) for 90 minutes. At the first meeting, the group will determine what days and times they will gather and will share the responsibility of bringing snacks for the group.
Description: This book study group will focus on Christian Mysticism; we are looking to explore what mysticism is and how it can inform our own spiritual lives and faith practices. This group is perfect for those with no experience with mysticism and those who are passionate about the subject—all are welcome to join the conversation.
UNDERSTANDING YOUR TYPE: THE ENNEAGRAM FOR BEGINNERS
FACILITATORS: KATE HOFFMANN & MARTHA HUSSAIN
Details: Meets weekly on Tuesdays from 6 – 7:30 PM at St. Tim’s for 8 sessions from September 8th – October 27th. Will alternate between the upstairs conference room and a classroom in the Fellowship Hall.
Description: This group offers the opportunity to learn more about the Enneagram personality model with a trained facilitator alongside other members of the community. You will learn to understand yourself and others with greater compassion and acceptance while identifying your strengths and growing edges.
BOOK STUDY: “THE UNIVERSAL CHRIST” BY FATHER RICHARD ROHR
FACILITATORS: JOANNE SIMCIK & JOANN CENCULA
Details: Meets weekly on Tuesdays from 6:30 – 8 PM in the Library for 9 sessions from September 15th – November 10th. Participants will need their own copy of the book. Please contact clergy if you need assistance purchasing.
Description: This group will dig deeper into Richard Rohr’s classic book “The Universal Christ” through discussion and contemplative prayer experiences developed by the Center for Action & Contemplation. Whether it is your first read or umpteenth read, together we will discover how a forgotten reality can change everything we see, hope for, and believe.
CREATION CARE
FACILITATOR: MIKE SEXTON
Details: Meets monthly for 60 – 90 minutes, with the option of attending other events together as they arise. Group will determine location and schedule of meetings together.
Description: This group will seek to make The Episcopal Church’s vision of creation care a reality here at St. Tim’s through service, teaching, and advocacy. From learning about own individual impact to larger policy issues, we endeavor to integrate care of creation into our whole lives while deepening our spirituality and connection to God.
SACRED CINEMA: AN EXPLORATION OF RELIGIOUS AND SPIRITUAL FILMS
FACILITATOR: JUNIPER O’MALLEY
Details: Meets every other month on Saturdays from 5 – 8 PM in the D’Zone to watch a religious and/or spiritual film together and share in discussion over a meal.
Description: This group will explore the place of recreation, play, joy, and connection in our spiritual journey through cinema and shared meals. With movies as our “study text,” it is a chance to deepen our faith and our friendships through the discussion and shared experiences.
EPISCOPAL 101: EXPLORING SACRAMENTS, TRADITION & FAITH
FACILITATORS: MOTHER MEGAN & MOTHER KIM
Details: Meets weekly on Sunday mornings from 8:45 – 9:45 AM in the Library from October 11th – November 15th. Participants will need their own copy of the book “Episcopal Questions, Episcopal Answers”. Please contact clergy if you need assistance purchasing.
Description: This group will offer an opportunity to learn more about what the Episcopal Church is and what we believe. If you are new to the Episcopal Church or have been attending for decades, you will find a place to learn and connect in this group.
FINDING CHRIST IN THE WORLD: A 12-WEEK IGNATION RETREAT IN EVERYDAY LIFE
FACILITATORS: MOTHER KIM & SIMON CADDICK
Details: Meets Sunday afternoons from 3:30 – 5 PM in the Library for 12 sessions from September 20th – December 13th. Participants will commit to a daily prayer practice and purchase a copy of the retreat notebook. Please contact clergy for assistance purchasing.
Description: This groups will help participants become more aware of God’s love and presence in their lives and in the world. Guided by the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, this small group will engage with Scripture and the Spirit to know Jesus more intimately and follow him more closely in daily life.
SACRED GROUND DIALOGUE CIRCLE
FACILITATORS: THE REV. NANCEY JOHNSON FROM ST. BRIGIT IN FREDERICK & ABBY MOONEY FROM HOLY COMFORTER IN BROOMFIELD
Details: Meets Thursdays from 9:30 – 11:30 AM via Zoom starting September 10th through March 2027.
Description: This group is a ministry of the Episcopal Church, Sacred Ground is a sensitive and prayerful resource that creates space for difficult yet respectful and transformative dialogue on race and racism. Participants are invited to walk back through history, peeling away the layers that have brought us to today, and reflect on family histories and stories, as well as important narratives that shape the collective American story. It holds as a guiding star the vision of a beloved community, where all people are honored, protected, and nurtured as beloved children of God.
